Climate and Best Time to Visit
Guincho Beach is known for its unique climate, influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. The beach experiences strong winds almost year-round, making it a paradise for surfers and wind sport enthusiasts. However, these winds can be a challenge for those looking for a tranquil sunbathing experience.
The summer months, from June to September, are the most popular for tourists, offering warm temperatures around 25–30°C. Despite the warmth on land, the water remains cool, ranging from 17–18°C, so it’s best to be prepared for a refreshing dip. For surfers and kiters, the winds are particularly favorable in the late spring and early autumn. If you’re visiting for photography or hiking, the offseason—especially late autumn—provides fewer crowds and dramatic ocean views under moody skies.
While the beach is enjoyable year-round, always check weather conditions before planning your trip, as the strong currents and waves can be unpredictable.
Description
Guincho Beach (Praia do Guincho) is located on the Atlantic Ocean, 35 km west of Lisbon, between Cape Roca and Cascais. The exact location and the road from Lisbon are shown on the map below.
The beach is quite wild, but in season, there are sun loungers and umbrellas for rent, as well as a couple of cafes with a bar and a restaurant. However, it is not serviced by lifeguards, so everyone swims at their own risk.
The photo below shows Guincho Beach as clean and beautiful, with picturesque cliffs on the horizon.

Surfers take the most incredible photos with boards at sunset. You can practice this, too.

However, these disadvantages do not stop vacationers because the place here is truly unique and has a powerful energy.
